I walk past every time I commute to Birmingham and back. So I thought I would finally give it a try. I bought a small cappuccino and the Ham & cheese croissant to go.
I have to say this was the hottest coffee I had ever had!! It was piping hot!! Even when I walked up to Edmund st & sat at my desk it was still hot! This is great as I've had caffe Nero etc and their coffees are not this hot! The croissant was also still warm!
I'm going to buy brekkie from there again to test out the heat of coffee again when next in brum! Then I know if this is standard or if it was the early start at 7.45am?? -

Oh yes, I heard a lot of bad reviews about Delice de France before but the truth is: I like the food there and it is a nice place to eat during my daily journeys back home from work. My commuting is pretty boring and sometimes you wait to long for a train so I sometimes stop at this deli for some baguette or paninis. Love them to bit.
Not the cheapest ones, I am afraid. Just walking more yards at New Street Station and you can find some sandwiches for half price of food here but I like it because it's usually empty and the service is nice and fast, anyway. There is not seats in this bakery so expects it to be a grab your food and eat else where kind of place. It doesn't bother me at all because I am usually taking the food away.
I have a thing for any brie baguettes served at Delice de France and they have a classic meal deal ( sandwich+ crisps + drink) so it can cost less than a fiver. -

There is nothing exceptional about this place, there isn't anything wrong about it either - best described as average.
It can be a nice alternative to the other places at New Street station as for some reason its almost always empty. Competitively priced with with other establishments in the area with a selection of coffees, soft drinks, pastries and sandwiches, and conveniently enough beer and wine (that is unsurprisingly priced a little higher than usual).
The croissant tastes like a croissant you can buy from most places, I recall however trying a pizza slice once.
I wish there were more places that sold just a slice of pizza instead of needing to buy the entire thing even if its still a 'personal' size. But this slice of pepperoni pizza had a weird taste, it's hard to describe; it wasn't like anything I'd ever had before and to be honest I wouldn't try the pizza again.
With Grand Central Kitchen opening a 2 minute walk across from the station and serving pretty much everything Delice de France offer on there menu for a lower cost I can't say I would go here again unless I was in a rush.
